Tilt is an installation resembling a seesaw, in which the weight of ceramic objects placed by the viewers continuously shifts its balance. The centrally supported wooden beam refers to an agricultural yoke, with hand-shaped forms at both ends.
The placement of each object affects the entire structure. When the balance is disrupted, the ceramics fall onto a metal tray filled with black sand beneath the structure. Through the simple act of placing an object, the viewer enters a decision-making situation: their action changes the state of the work and has consequences for the system as a whole.
The hand motif evokes gestures of holding, giving, and letting go. The questions of balance and weighing can be understood on both a personal and communal level: what can we carry, what burdens do we take on from others, and when does the balance tip?
