We all know that touching objects at an exhibition is generally prohibited, yet human curiosity sometimes surpasses the rules.
My work is a panel made from paper ash. It is visibly present, but if someone touches it, only soot remains on their fingers. Even the mere presence of visitors has damaged the piece, as the ashes began to scatter with the air movement around them. Once visitors noticed this, they moved even closer and tried to touch it.
This situation uniquely demonstrates the challenges that arise from the encounter between human nature and art. While artistic creations are usually meant to be admired from a distance, human curiosity sometimes compels us to get closer, breaking the rules and potentially harming the work.
This scenario highlights the fragility and value of the artwork, emphasizing that the preservation and respect of art is a shared responsibility.
