The central figure of the statue is the witch seen from Luca’s chair. According to the legend, after picking up the poppy seeds scattered by the fleeing person, she reached their house, took the burnt chair from the fire, and finally stood on it herself. The witch could only be destroyed by burning Luca’s chair.
In this final moment, the collected poppy seeds spill from her body, symbolizing complete dissolution and surrender. The witch appears as a pitiful, weak figure, raising the question of whether she was truly driven by malevolent intent.
