The circle traditionally symbolizes wholeness, continuity, and timelessness — yet in this piece, that wholeness is deliberately broken. The surface is etched with furrow-like grooves, evoking ploughed fields or the parched cracks of dry soil. This visual connection to the land is reinforced by the choice of material: the raw, weighty stoneware carries the tactile presence and fragility of terrain — fertile, yet vulnerable.
Mounted slightly away from the wall with subtle spacers, the piece gains a hovering, dislodged quality, as though a fragment of land has been lifted from its origin and suspended in time. It preserves the imprint of memory, and the possibility of healing: the broken whole does not fully close, but its circular origin remains legible — an openness directed toward the future.
